Greetings Fellow XSIers!
It's getting closer to SIGGRAPH, and it's time to start thinking about what we're going to do for this year's Softimage Production Challenge. Here's a quick review of last year's event:

The basic gist of the event is, we get a few experienced XSI production artists... people who are experienced both in production and in doing presentations, and over the course of one work day, create a production shot from scratch, from start to finish. Along the way, we demonstrate real-world production techniques, live problem solving, and non-linear workflow. This is jazz for the CG artist.
This year, we hope to have more participants, bigger sponsorship, and to get more done in less time. So before the event is officially marked on the calendar, I am asking for community input. What do you want to see in such an event? What was missing from last year? What would get you excited for such an event this year?
I'm going to start off with some of the ideas already in discussion:
- Better event documentation: Record everything that happens and edit it down into training DVD
- Audience participation (on-site recruitment): Have open seats on workstations connected to our network, and recruit volunteers to help out with asset creation
- Community shot submissions: Hold a contest to get the best shot design from community members.
- More view screens for displaying/switching on what the presenters are doing.
Lastly, this year, there will be ICE! So whatever we do must include some nifty effects to demo the new technology.
I look forward to your replies.
-Brad
PS - Feel free to reply on the lists. Any public attention we gather will only help out with securing more sponsorships. :-)
