Fluid sim?

Go out in the hall.
Grab the black table cloth off the cart with all the food and get two siggraph attendees to hold it up for your background.
Dump the redbulls out of the galvanize tin bucket and set it on the floor.
Stand on a hotel chair and pour the jug of half-n-half into the bucket and film it.
Key it in the FX tree and comp.

Last year we knew in advance what the shot would be, but we also all agreed nobody would build any assets towards the shot until during the presentation.

We also agreed that we would use the kinds of custom tools available to most production houses. So if we had a custom particle sim engine for example, that was off limits. However, we could use the rig to guide system or a library of asset clips, since those things are available for anyone.

The idea of having the community contribute shots was listed in the very first post initiating the thread. See bullet item 3 of " ideas already in discussion"

We would need to filter submitted shots in some way just in case people vote for something that is either impossible to pull off in a day, or requires expertise the group of presenters is lacking. Fluid simulation anyone? :-)

Yes I think the idea is to try to come up with something that is what
production "could" or "should" be.  At least "try", anyway.  :)
