changing an image path while rendering

Subject : changing an image path while rendering

I've made an event that changes the path of an image source on each frame of a render. I'm having trouble getting the image to refresh (reload) after the change. It refreshed fine in the UI if I keep a ppg open that displays the image.

Does anyone know of a trick to force an image to be reloaded prior to a render.
