No need for a script with the new curve tools ... well new since XSI 5 I think :-p.

Draw your linear curve and when you need to draw the next segment to 45Â from the last one, hit "m" key in sticky mode.
Then middle mouse on the line and you will see a blue point. You can move it to your center of rotation along the line.
Then old the shift key and move the little white circle to rotate each 15Â ( yes, one finger for the m key, one for the shift and the last for the left clic).

If you can do it, you are a guitar hero !
